Browntown New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 10/18/2008 1:24 pm I'm wondering if someone could help me out with this one. I bought this yesterday at a local antique mall. Being new to coin collecting, I'm still having trouble telling the difference between post-mint damage and the different kinds of mint errors or die varieties. I think someone on ebay is trying to sell the same kind of dime for a lot of money, but even that person doesn't know what's going on, so any help would be much appreciated. foundinrolls Pillar of the Community United States 3507 Posts	Posted 10/18/2008 1:32 pm Hi and WELCOME! Yours is a normal coin with slight Machine Doubling damage. It is technically considered damage that is caused when a die hops or twists a little bit during the strike or ejection of a coin from a die. You will see a lot of coins on ebay that are not doubled die varieties but are coins that exhibit this worthless form of doubling. Some folks on ebay are being less than forthright and some just don't know what they are looking at. If you stay around here long enough or read some of the older posts, you should get a good feel for Machine Doubling damage and hub doubled die varieties. Machine Doubling damage = no premium.
