I haven't had any luck finding anything related to the extra steps at the base (as shown in the pics below).

If there's no records, it most likely is not an error - but I don't see how the extra steps would be MD.I have much to learn and hope to get some insightful replies.

I believe it's called plate shifting,it can also be seen on top of the buildings roof line..any harder of a strike and the copper plate would have split
