I got this in a pretty large lot of coins, but I have very little experience with coins of this age, and do not have access to the Martin book. Thoughts on legitimacy, and what variety it is? The die cracks in the date are not something I have seen (to this degree) in other examples. It is 7.15g, and about 26.4mm wide Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide. Thanks sel_69l, but I have Krause and know what it is (or presents as) in the generic sense. There are a decently large number of varieties of these though, Martin wrote a book almost 500 pages long on the series, which only lasted from 1722-1724. Perhaps this should have been in the variety sub forum.
The lack of the dot before Hibernia makes it KM# 117.4 (or 117.2, the R's looks suspect) I think, but I suspect Martin narrowed the varieties down further?

I would say F-12, as to the value I thought that these 'Woods' coins were a bit more than $10 as people coinsider them to be Amercian colonials due to there wide usage in the colonies.

Thanks Coinfrog and Numis-Notherner And yes, from what I've seen with ebay sold listings, the value is a fair amount more than $10 for one in this shape, not including any variety attribution. There are some that sell at $10 or less, but they are generally in quite rough condition.

It appears to me to be 4.84-Gd.5 which is an estimated R6.

jerryc39, didn't know if you already have this or not, yours is 4.15-Gc.39a which is a rarity 2 variety.

Beautiful coin and apparently quite a scarce variety!
