I was wondering if it is possible that a 2020p nickel or any coin could carry the same doubled die variety over from another year? I'm  almost certain I've come across a 2020p with the doubled die above the door.

That is the only area that gets doubled on the modern US Nickel, so they all look similar, but I guarantee you that is not the same as any coin from another year.

check out 2012 and 2016 nickel DDR-001...these are very nice doubled die reverses on the modern nickels.
