According to the ebay website, "each ebay standard envelope shipment includes a $20 shipping protection plan on a single order and up to $50 on combined orders to help in case of lost or damaged items."

I have been using this service for a few months now for coins valued at $20 or less, and have continued to ship any coins valued at more than $20 with a first-class bubble mailer - at a significantly higher cost. But tonight it occurred to me that perhaps I don't have to...

So here's my question:

Will ebay not provide ANY loss protection on a coin valued at more than $20, or am I able to ship a coin of any value in an ebay standard envelope, but will only be protected for UP TO $20?

Considering that there is NO insurance protection available for coins shipped via USPS First-Class or Priority Mail, if the latter is accurate that changes the shipping game - assuming that the reliability of ebay Standard Envelope can be improved.

All thoughts and clarifications welcome. Thanks!

I've found that on items that sell for more than $20, the ebay standard envelope doesn't come up as a shipping option, so your question becomes moot. I agree that it would be great to ship a single $25 coin in an ESE and get both tracking and $20 of insurance, but I don't think that's possible. If anyone knows how to do that, I would love to know!
