one of the bonuses of CRH in Canada is finding US coins. They go in a bucket and down to the US when I cross. The other day I scored 7 1967 dimes from the reject bin before dumping my searched coin. First silver found in a very long coin, and while not found it rolls it was found while CRHing.

@JadeDragon - quick question..
When you cross the border, how are you dumping off the coins? Do you have a US account somewhere so a bank will take them? Using them at a store? Rolled/loose?
The last time I crossed, it was to Vegas and I brought a bunch of US coins that I got CRH'ing CA rolls. Luckily, my hotel allowed me to bring the loose coins to their cashier who dumped them in a coin counter. But every US bank I went to beforehand wanted me to have an account first.

@darcyrmt I roll the quarters, dimes and nickels Infind in Canada and either spend them or put them in my US bank accounts. I also tend to use free time in the US to visit random banks and buy any halve dollars they have on hand. I spend what I can (gas stations, food etc) loose and rolled, but if I accumulate too many I just sell or deposit into my US account. Different banks are more or less accommodating to Canadians wanting to open an account. Wells Fargo has turned anti Canadian. BofA seems to be happy for our business. I picked two banks with a huge branch network and a regional bank with lots of branches near me. I also use the sccounts to deal with US stock DRIP account investments. Never bothered to get a US$ Credit card but that might be worth doing for some people.

I've had good luck just trading rolled coin for bills at random banks. Also it is pretty easy to spend a roll or two of coins at gas stations and grocery stores. Never been unable to unload US coins, though its pretty funny when the US bank tellers check my US coins for Canadian with a magnet #129522;. I'm not going to be sneaking in Canadian when I'm sorting out American.

I don't hunt Canadian rolls, per se, since I live in the US, but I do find quite a few Canadian pennies in the penny rolls that I hunt. So I have started a Canadian (copper) penny collection. Of course, the difficulty level is definitely increased, due to the fact that the vast majority are US cents, but I suppose given the fact that Canadian banks no longer give out pennies, it may be a blessing in disguise.

Anyhow, I've collected a total of 197 Canadian copper pennies so far. I have everything from 1956 through 1996, with the exception of 1960. I was very happy to find a 1992 today, which filled a hole in my album/spreadsheet. Don't know why 1992 was so hard to find, but it took me the longest time. So far, I've also found two KG6's (1941 and 1951) and one KG5 (1935). For my collection, I'm hoping to at least find all the Queen Elizabeth ones up to 1996, so I'm just missing 1953, 1954, 1955, and 1960. Anything on top of that is gravy. The non-copper ones I just give to my daughter.

P.S. Would people get offended if I called Queen Elizabeth II coins QE2?

Cheers!

I went through 10 dime and 10 quarter rolls a couple days ago. I found a 1965 silver dime! It's only the third silver coin I've found from the hundreds of rolls I've gone through. Very few pre-2001 coins - about 8% for the dimes and 2.5% for the quarters.

I did find four coloured 2021 commemorative dimes, but only one coloured commemorative quarter.

I've searched a $100 in dimes every week for the last month and have found 3 silvers and an average of $2 in US...I even got 4 pennies in one roll.
