got this a while back for 420 I believe. still have the receipt for it somewhere in my box. just wondering if older bars carry any more value then market value.

I would think a higher value to a bar collector and only metal value to a stacker.

The bar collecting market is small but somewhat fanatical according to my LCS. Some bars are quite rare and fetch 10x spot or more. So keep an eye out for older/ unusual size bars.

That's not my collecting area, which is mostly one ounce rounds, but I would not turn down the opportunity to handle a nice chunk of silver. Once one of our LCS had a 1000 ounce bar they were selling. I assume that someone bought it eventually.

Some collect vintage silver bars, pay a premium higher than new bars. You could check ebay sold listings for current prices. Here is a web site about Engelhard bars and other mints bars:
