Nice looking coins. I tried RAM eshop but already sold out. Tried Rebel website (nearest store to me over 300km away) but they want $18 for two coins and $20 to post them!

As much as I hate to support the ebay scalpers, I managed to buy a set for less than Rebel want. At least my collection of circulating colored $2 coins is still complete but I wish RAM could get these releases right.

The $2 coins in the 2 carded set are different style of coloured paint to the circulating $2 coins.

Yes, two different paint applications and the only option for me was ebay. I'm happy to have secured examples of both designs but would much rather support legitimate sources. Until RAM get it right, what option do I really have? This is the RAM's doing. Stating that "any listings prior to the release date are considered illegitimate" is laughable. Who cares if the RAM considers those coins as "illegitimate" and once in the hands of collectors, who is going to know the source?
The RAM sell rolls of coins and could sell these releases that way too. I understand the concept of releases through retailers but it clearly isn't working when scalpers (or whatever you want to call them) can sell them too. It is the retailers who miss out when this happens and I wonder if they will ever wake up?

A friend of mine just went to Rebel to get some of these coins and they wouldn't let him have them unless he joined up as a member.
Anyone else come across this?
