This is my other bookend for the <1m mintage CC Morgan's. It has a couple of well toned over scratches on the obverse cheek and ear. The black on the reverse at about 7:00 is just dirt/grime. My goals in the assembly of my CC Morgan collection is to 1) cover the alpha grades, 2) some variety in appearance, 3) eye appealing to me, and 4) all raw. So, CCF, what's your call on this one?

Pretty much agree with Petespockets55. Piece does have a 'I did my duty' character..

An old, hard-working Morgan that comes down to a VG10.

I'm with IGE and CFM at VG10. This is another one, like the 1893-CC, where I think this is going to be more subdued typical toning with some circ cameo. You can see that whatever lighting they used created a little rainbow toning above liberty. I doubt I'm going to see that in hand or get the same effect with my basic filtered lighting. We shall see.
As always, thanks for taking the time to comment!

Here are the in hand photos. The first set indoors with usual lighting setup. The second set I took outside but not in direct sunlight. I agree this was cleaned once upon a time, but I am satisfied with it for the low grade that it is. nickelsearcher, regarding grades, I just meant the lettered grades, I.e. without the numerical designation.

Coincidentally, I need the 1879 cc for a slabbed set of cc Morgan's and I'm excited to finish this set!
I would grade this 1879 VG
Are all your raw CC's consistent VG to Fine?
or are they like mine where 80-85 ( uncirculated).1889 CC is VG ...90cc is uncirculated etc etc . in other words, I have no uniformity at all .....and I think putting together raw sets are more fun most of the time!

Thanks for the follow up, PZ.
Benny, so far I have MS, AU, XF, VF, VG, and G CCs, raw certified by the CCF! Still to be acquired are 80, 81, 85, 89 and 92. I'll definitely be looking for F and AG examples, not sure about P and FR, TBD.

Quote: "not sure about P and FR, TBD." Adam , If you decide to get a " P" rated CC, it will probably cost you more than an AU Morgan.
