I recently inherited my mother's safe. When I opened it, all of the paper items were pretty much toast. Humidity had damaged old photos / letters / paper money (but not to the point of being valueless.) I put the safe in my house and use it to store the 90% Ag stack. We also have safe deposit boxes at two different banks to keep true valuables. In each case, I've added desiccant that is changed regularly.

The best piece of gun advice I ever received was: if you aren't proficient at using a gun and WILLING to use it, don't keep one in the house. We have a couple of handguns and two shotguns. My wife is a gun enthusiast and a much better shot than I - so, I'm hiding behind her!
