1813 Barcelona Peseta Without Beaded Edge?

pjt33 New Member Spain 2 Posts	Posted 05/06/2010 6:24 pm I've just picked up (from a non-specialist market stall) something which appears to be an Spanish War of Independence one peseta from Barcelona. However, all the photos I can find of this coin online have a beaded edge, and mine doesn't (image below). Does anyone know whether there were non-beaded ones or whether I have some kind of replica? DCH Pillar of the Community United States 645 Posts	Posted 05/06/2010 8:14 pm Looks to be a cast counterfeit. Wrong font on the legends, central stars don't look right. Planchet flaws/cracks/voids. Palm? branches at bottom are wrong. No beaded border. Report this Post to the Staff

To make things worse, whenever I am in Spain I always see about two counterfeits for every real coin. And some dealers DO NOT CARE if a coin is real or not. Archraz, this was from a box of assorted coins at 50 euro-cents each which included some very poor condition one euro-cents, so I wasn't expecting the stallholder to care about anything at all and I'm not out much.
