Hi, I am new to collecting, totally love this community, wealth of info and awesome members. I have been researching and studing numismatics on the web for 7 months, and think I am ready to attempt to seriously get into collecting. I focus on Gold Kruger rand Proofs and to collect the ZAR Series coins from 1892 to 1898. Could you get me going in grading and assist in grading the attached ZAR coin.
I'd grade this one a net VG - Kruger's portrait is quite well-worn. The reverse looks to have Fine details, but there are deep scratches on both sides (especially on the reverse) that bring the coin's grade down. It would probably come back as "ungradeable" if you were to send it to one of the American third-party-graders, because of the scratches.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
