For me ,its all about the customs form Hassle and not being able to track it after it leaves the US....For buyers in the US I can merely pack it up and drop it in the Mailbox and then be on my way

When I do buy from sellers in the US I would say that less than 20% of the packages have customs declarations. Most of them are just in envelopes like regular mail. There are ways to conceal the coin so that it is not detectable. Sellers do this all the time. I can't understand why people are saying the envelopes never arrive. I have bought hundreds of items from the US and I have never had something get lost or damaged. When I sell the only difference between shipping is the price of the stamp and that is why I will increase my shipping by 50 cents to US buyers. I am not exaggerating here you can check my feedback if you like. The one thing I do know if sellers would let me bid they would definitely receive higher bids for the coins even if I don't win the item.

My ebay coin sales are usually items between $100 and $1000. I will not ship out of the country because, as previously mentioned, I cannot track my package and know exactly when it was delivered. But most of all I do not like announcing on the package how much the item inside is worth (Customs form)...It just screams "Steal me please" Not worth the grief... |

If I am buying a higher priced coin I don't mind paying a premium on shipping. Are there not services where you can pay extra for shipping that will track. UPS or another courier? I have bought higher priced items from the US and have paid a lot for shipping? Why did I pay as much as 20 dollars shipping if there was no tracking or insurance involved?

I sell on ebay and ship everywhere. I had one package that went awry to Italy. Because of English I couldn't tell if the buyer didn't get the package or didn't like it. I was out about $30. However, that being said, I have made quite a few successful foreign sales. I know that for certain items US buyers would not pay the kind of money that European buyers will. I sold a few high value German coins that went for great prices, to German buyers. US buyers would not pay those prices for German coins. I admit that the customs form is a pain, but you can print it out from home from the USPS website. Not too bad. |

Sending packages to Italy is like sending them to a blackhole. Someone somewhere there steals a lot of packages. Many people explicitly say, "I will not ship to Italy." vs. "I only ship in the US" to imply that they won't ship to Canada,

I have no problem shipping to Canada, but I am convinced that Canada Post and the Canadian customs service are staffed by retirees from other civil service positions who work 20 hour weeks. I'm nearly certain Canada Post delivers via horse and wagon, or perhaps pack mule.  I don't ship to Italy or most of eastern Europe outside the EU, too many, uh, issues encountered over the years.  |

You wanna see really super slow, super unmotivated, hide behind their union, postal people (I can't bring myself to call them "workers") go to Canada. They are a separate breed that threatens to strike if they aren't making the same wages as a doctor. Of course that is true for every union employee in Canada. That is one reason I do not ship to Canada. No need to roll the dice. Thank god for the speedy USPS. PS- the Canadian postal union is threatening to strike AGAIN, as I write this. Edited by Neil

Recent bad (positive but still looks bad) feedback from a shipment to Canada... Quote:
Received May 10 purchased April 27 They didn't pay for 3 days. That put it into the weekend and could not ship it until May 2. That is 9 days including weekend. They also left feedback it on the 9th (a day before they got it?) |

Maybe the Canadian buyers on this forum could set up a Co-Op with someone in the US. I live approximately 70 miles from The Peace Bridge to Fort Erie. Items could be brought across the bridge and then mailed from Canada. Just a thought. Something like this must be possible.
