Novice Attempts Cleaning.... Before/After

I don't have much experience with cleaning yet, but I can say here, that this is one thing that can happen. This first coin I only paid 2.50 for ....my attempt here doesn't bother me too much, though I think I should have just left it alone. Before After This next coin bums me out. I believe I had the opportunity to make it look really nice, even in it's condition, had I just cleaned the high areas and left the light colored sand outlining the images. But no, I had to take it all off. Well live and learn. PS Does anyone know what the first coin is.... I haven't been able to identify it yet. I find that I am constantly asking myself when to stop or even if I should start. It is difficult to learn from not doing. So sometimes I learn by doing? Glad to know that I am not the only one.
