Can any one tell me what a 10 ore coin is worth in USA money? And what the todays value may be? The coin is in good condition for the age, I'd say a 5 on a scale of 1-10. Thank you.

before someone else beats me to it....

now, with that said, let me warn you that the first response to your question will be:

That aside, one of the best ways to determine the going price for a coin is to look for one in similar condition and same date on ebay. (Don't forget to do an advanced search, check the "completed listings" box.)

its not only that we want pictures, we need them to give an estimated value because a coins value is greatly tied to its condition and eye appeal

The Swedes actually have a grading scale from 1 to 10. If your 5 agrees with theirs, which I would not take for granted, it is worth SEK 175. A 6 would be worth SEK 250, a 4 SEK 125. You will notice 10 is best here.

As for dollars, $1 is worth approximately 6,75 SEK. There are 100 öre for each krona, so the original purchase value of the coin was something like 1,5 cents. Which was a lot more back in 1874 than today.

At the time the coin was issued, both Sweden and America were on the gold standard. 10 ore was officially worth 0.001296 ounces of gold, or 2.7 US cents at the time. Comparing that with today's gold prices, it would be the equivalent of $2.28.

Either way, it's definitely worth more as a collectable coin than its face value. Scandinavian coins are quite popular; the values in my old catalogue are now hopeless underestimates.
