Standing Liberty Quarters - No Stars And Possible Errors?

korimeyers New Member United States 13 Posts	Posted 02/10/2012 9:42 pm I have a few Standing Liberty quarters and was told to look for ones without stars under the eagle. I have one - I cannot read the date as it is gone and the coin is very worn. I noticed that on the back where there should be a "D" in "UNITED" it is smooth and on the other side at that place there is like a punched out shape - almost looking like a "D" - is this a possible error? IS this coin too worn to be valuable for anything other than melt value? The other one I posted is also worn with no visible date and it looks like it's been almost cut or something - another possible mint error? ANy help appreciated. Report this Post to the Staff

I don't know enough about them to be able to tell you whether it's a '16 or a '17 though hopefully someone else will. It's worth more than melt regardless, but if it's a '17 it's not going to be worth a whole lot in that condition, <$20. As far as the marks/cuts on the coins, it just looks like post mint damage to me. Report this Post to the Staff
