All canadian coins from 1953 have these varieties.

Yup => 1953 NSF for all of the Canadian coins ... but there are also the "more rare" 1954 NSF penny and 1954 NSF nickel, plus the infamous 1955 NSF penny ($$$)

It looked a bit like the Queen wasn't wearing a top, so they decided that was a bit too racey for Liz, so they altered her bust so that it looked like she was wearing a shirt/top (NOTE => ironically, nowadays the paparazzi take actual photo-shots of Princess Kate and her sister Pippa skinny dipping with the future King of England => times have changed, eh?) ...

... but sorry, I don't have any photos of Pippa, or of the NSF coins.

When looking to determine if a 1953, 54 or 55 Canadian cent is NSF or SF...Look at the "I" in "DEI" on the Obverse and compare it to this diagram.

Have a look on p.62-63 of your Charlton's.
You're curious and young enough to absorb information like a sponge, buy yourself a Charlton's,and soon you'll be the one answering questions.

Since you say you found it I will assume its circulated so ...

1953SF runs from about 1.00 in VF to around 7.00 in AU50 (MS63 70.00)
1953NSF runs from about 0.10 in VF to around 0.50 in AU50 (MS63 3.00)

Remember prices change regularly so this is just a guideline not a real reference of value but I hope it helps you a little.
