I was thinking of sending a few coins in to get graded. This Hawaiian Quarter was to be one of them. any thoughts on grade?

I cant really tell you a good grade for the hawiian coins but if I where to try to grade this coin I would probably say its in the ballpark of XF because of the wear on the bust and the highpoints on the reverse so its not AU in my opinion(only my opinion). nice coin.

The highpoints on the beard and ear are worn down a bit for EF...I'd say around VF30

when I bought it, it was labelled VF-XF due to the rev being slightly better off than the obv.

I think the coin was labelled correctly when you bought it. Whenever I see a "VF-XF" type label or see a coin with that kind of difference in the wear between obverse and reverse I treat the coin as the lower grade when valuing them in my collection. So I'd be calling it a VF if I owned it even if the obverse was XF...but that's just me :)

Nice coin, I just saw one of these yesterday and am thinking of purchasing.

Thanks for sharing!

Surprisingly, it was even priced on the lower end. It was about half what I had mentally prepared myself to pay!

The price raised a few concerns about authenticity, but I was able to return to the seller with my scale and loupe and bought it with confidence.
