I'm looking to purchase a 1901 silver french agricultural medal from le neubourg it is 46.5mm 39g .950 silver. I collect world coins and I'm not experienced with medals. I have tried to do some research online and I can't find any info or pricing on this piece. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of this medal but there is a woman on the front of the medal and a scene with farm animals on the back. This piece is gem with wonderful toning. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

This depends on so many variables, but one of the main points for collectors after condition is the identity of the designer/engraver.

The medal itself sounds as if it may be issued by the "Comice Agricole", a sort of local farmers association. Other medals were issued by the Ministry of Agriculture. They are not particularly rare, but there is a breathtaking variety of designs to be found.

In Europe, these medals usually sell from $40 upwards.

OK, it sounds as though it's Frédéric de Vernon who died about ten years later. He was prolific, but (and this strictly my opinion) not in the first division of medallists.

At the time of writing, silver's running at about $31/oz, so I stick by around $40.
