OK, I was looking over a Whitman Buffalo nickel folder/book that my Wife bought me and noticed a few glaring errors on the last paper sheet that's attached to the book. The page with all the info on it. Anyways see if you can spot the 2 errors. Give up? Found them? OK here is what believe to be errors- "works" should read words and "fro" should read for! You'd think that they'd know how meticulous coin collectors are and their proof reader must have been napping that day at the press.

Rather expected since Whitman is now owned by Harris and their primary concern in now books, not coin collecting items.

Expected huh? Well if their main concern is books (Which are chock full of words -lol) then a solid base in modern English would be advisable. Methinks Dansco now has a new customer.

Typical of our new spellcheck world. One run through spellcheck and everything is supposed to be OK.

I also noticed they are made in China now. Can't they make ANYTHING in America anymore? I'm surprised we don't outsource our coinage too..

Yea spell check is exactly what it sounds like. It checks spelling. Works and fro are both words and were spelled correctly so its apparent no one proof read this before hitting spell check and then printing.

Well, they are made in china now. I think Whitman's biggest coin folder error is the little problem they seem to have with destroying coins, which they were doing even back when they were made in the US.

Unfortuately that is the way things are going more and more. I USED to be a Whitman only person since that was the only thing available around me but now even our local coin shows, coin stores, etc. have all gone Dansco. It is possible that they are made in China since the other products of Whitman, United States Mint Products, are noted on the back cover, "Made In China". But that is not noted on their Folders. Not easy to find out where the Folders are made and I've contacted Whitman with that question and was told they would get back to me and never did. Outsourcing our coins? Picture a Quarter with Made in China on the back.

Quote: Dansco albums are made in the USA. Which is why they probably have such high quality. I tried to find out some time back where other Albums are made but some manufacturers are rather sectetive about that. For example Littleton is supposed to be made in the USA. So is Intercept Shield. However, with Whitman, now Harris, some are made here and some are made in China.
