So, If you checked my posting earlier in the errors section, I think I have a DDR West Virginia Quarter from a 2005 Mint Set I bought off of ebay this week.

Well, what I didn't see is that there's a huge and I mean huge DDR all over the P California quarter.

I got this set for $9.00 + $2.58 shipping.

WHAT A BARGAIN!

ok, looking at this thread: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...IC_ID=69056,
I realize this is the same type of doubling.

As I'm not really familiar with error varieties, what is the approximate value of a Satin Finish MS-65 or so quarter with Machine Doubling on the reverse?

Machine Doubling is common, so it doesn't add value as an error. For somebody looking for a nice gem coin, it would probably make the coin somewhat less desirable (though most people aren't so picky that they'd pass over a nice coin just because of some Machine Doubling.)
Rest in Peace

I agree. Actually Machine Doubling is not an error and is considered damage. It is common and usually lowers the value of the coin. On the other hand, I do hear of more and more people who are starting to collect these.

is it unusual then for Machine Doubling to create the exact same pattern? My quarter is exactly the same as the one the other poster found. It's funny that I've never seen one of these before- and it is so clearly doubled- that I wonder if there's a possibility that the consensus opinion about it being machine doubled is wrong.

No, it's not unusual. When I look through cents that I've sorted by date, it's common to see almost identical MD on multiple coins, or even most of the coins from a particular date. The machines are calibrated to a particular striking speed, pressure, etc. and can produce virtually identical behavior on many coins. Certain striking defects can almost be markers for certain dates or mints.

This article has some more unusual types of Mechanical Doubling that might actually carry a premium for error collectors.
