I say a lovely example of a great piece of USA coinage history!
Sharing the following observations as if I were a clinical
TPG grader ... and setting aside for the moment my enthusiasm for the coin ...
The coin is 'bright' in the photos ... but appears to be fully lustrous with no obvious signs of altered surfaces. Perhaps an old dip to remove toning ... but I have no way to know that.
The coin exhibits a reasonable strike ... perhaps better than I can tell from the photos. Best place IMHO to check the Boone Half for strike quality is on the reverse of the coin at 9:00 where there is an image of Fort Boonesborough.
Do you see that Fort on your coin? ... good! I can see it from here. A reasonable strike will show 'some' pickets in the fence around the Fort. An exceptional strike will show pickets all the way around the Fort to the point where they join Boone's right leg just under his jacket.
Judge for yourself strike quality based on that description.
The bag hits on Boone chin on the obverse are distracting at a major focal point of the coin ... the obverse rim has a ding or two at 7:00.
The obverse fields appear to be clear of major bag hits ...
The more cluttered reverse on this coin tends to hide minor bag hits ... so I can't tell from your photos the quality of the reverse portraits ... the reverse fields contain some distractions at 3:00 and 10:00 ... although that might be photo and not coin?
Sooo ... I say a top
TPG gives this coin an MS64 grade ... lovely white example with reasonable strike quality.
She is a beauty for sure PG ...
Thanks for sharing!
