Hi All,

I have an interest in British Royal Mint old world proof sets,

I know that people do collect judging from sales on ebay and in Auctions them but I can not find any information on them, the only details I have are if I see one in an auction I look it up in Krause's catalog.

Is there any source that can help with this?

Thanks.

General information, like sets were produced for which countries, no of sets produced and pictures would be great.

I just started collecting last month, I think I would like to have KM-PS1 of each country "weather by The Royal Mint or other mints", or in case if it is expensive the next cheap set in the series.

I know this would take years to complete and I will get no financial benefits from it, but I would still like to do it.

Thanks.

Most information about coins, most people find in the Krause catalog. Perhaps you could check out The Royal Mint's website or the Spink catalog of English coins.

Hi photo123! I'm sorry we didn't reply to you. I think I understand what you are looking for, but unfortunately I don't know the answer off hand.

I do know that we have a unique collection here at the mint, and we are working on photographing and documenting it at this very moment. It may include everything you are looking for, it may not. I am speaking to the Director of our museum this afternoon and will raise your query!

Hi I just spoke to the Director of the Museum and he said the answer is 'there are a lot'! Apprently not a straightforward request.

There is a new Royal Mint Museum website in the works and when that launches it will include an enquiry form for you to ask questions...so I'm sorry but you may have to wait a little while longer for that to become available.

Thanks James for the replies, The director's reply made me laugh

I know that you probably can fill a book with the details requested, I mean The Royal Mint have been releasing mint sets decades before computers were common and you would probably have to go through lots of documents to get the figures

Thanks Again, for now I will keep searching the manual way, by looking at each set details in catalogs.
