I'm not even sure what is the right forum to discuss collecting replicas. I am somewhat interested in collecting them. I realize they are worth very little, if anything.

I have plans to collect a few of them. Not to pass off as fakes but to collect them because I find them amusing. I found a bunch of them searching on ebay. A great deal of them say copy on the coin and some do not.

What are your guys thoughts about collecting replicas?

I am of two minds....one, if that's what you like, then go for it.

But the other side says that this is just supporting the bad guys. As long as someone buys them, they will be made...and today's "copy" maker may well just be honing his skills to make a nicer counterfeit tomorrow.

The biggest problem with copies, is that they end up in the hands of someone who tries to pass it off as something other than a copy! Which in the end just hurts the hobby.
