Some days are diamonds ... some days are stones...
I have been searching every day for a draped bust large cent that meets a pretty strict set of standards for quite some time now. I was looking again this morning, in the large cents category on
ebay, and I see a listing for an 1892 half dollar .... pretty worn, and I don't care much for low end Barber stuff, but I was thinking to myself "at 25 dollars and 5 dollars postage, stick an O on that bad boy and I'm your man" .... wouldn't you know that it was a New Orleans minted coin. Low mintage of 360 thousand give or take, and 300 dollars in Good per numismedia.
That was a dandy way to start the day....
Then I spotted a date set of Lincolns and picked up some coins I needed for my lincoln set....namely a 14-S, a 15-S, a 22-D, and a 31-D. I actually didn't need a 15-S or 22-D, but I'll keep the best for my set , swap a philly minted 1914 for the S, and sell the date set again, still with 2 nice dates in it, and recoup most of my investment.
