The image is too small. Try your macro setting on your camera. Crop the coin down. The result should be a coin at least 600x600 to see details.

Hey timsum Thanks for responding. I used a scanner, so no macro but I used some image editing to enlarge the photo hopefully this maybe better.

It would also be helpful if you cropped your scans, the excess background is unnecessary.
