I took My three year old Grand daughter to Her first coin show yesterday and She was all excited.Picking out monster Morgans that I couldn't possibly afford.Although,She did impress one dealer. We asked Her who was on the front of the coins and She said "lady libliberty". He was so kind,He gave Her a one oz copper Lincoln.Once She had Her coin She was ready too go.
While there,I did manage to pick up a couple for the type set.I spent more than I wanted too,but I just couldn't pass 'em up.

I just got this 1897-S Morgan the other day to add to my set. I had one already, but I recently discovered that it was cleaned at some point in the past. There was secondary toning present as well. Of course, I didn't notice this a few years ago when I was new to the hobby, but upon viewing it again after digging it out of storage it was obvious. I enjoy these little moments of "reward" when knowledge and experience are put to good use. I don't have much of either, but I've got enough.

Scored a 1788 Vermont for a dirt-cheap $49 couple of days ago, pretty solid despite low grade, common Ryder 16, I'll try to get good pictures when it shows up. Seller's pictures are terrible.

Yesterday I thought I bought my last coin to complete my 7070. However, the last page of the book was a bicentennial page; so I bought this one to replace it. More holes to fill!

Here's my most recent purchase: Flying Eagle triplets! I got a 1857, 1858 Small letter XF-40, and 1858 large letter XF-40. All three are a matched set from the "Stack's W 57th St Collection" (see below for more info).

Great American Coin Hoard Unveiled by Stack's Bowers Galleries

IRVINE, Calif. (March 10, 2014) — One of the greatest American coin hoards ever to be found has been acquired by Stack's Bowers Galleries.

The hoard, which contains over a million coins, ranges from bags of large copper cents and Capped Bust half dollars, to Morgan and other silver dollars. Other coins include Washington quarters, Franklin half dollars, bags of Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents, nearly 10,000 1909 V.D.B cents, and more. Most are in circulated grades, and will appeal to collectors seeking coins that are both historical and affordable. The market value is estimated to be well into eight figures, with initial estimates ranging from $15 to $20 million...
