I've always liked this design but I only have a proof version.

That is a really tiny mintage, TNG. What is the design exactly- looks like a genie lamp on the left and a kind of strange dress?

As the last was a modern commemorative I'll add this one.
2012 Star Spangled Banner $ 5

This reminds me I purchased the following lately:

It's an NGC-69, 90% silver (same amount as a Morgan). But it's on hold with the dealer until I pay (just $20).

I believe my image is making her dress and face look much worse than it really is. I am fairly sure Liberty is holding the "Lamp of Knowledge" for some reason or the "Lamp of Life" with its eternal flame of knowledge. The lamp of knowledge is the official symbol of the nursing profession and of higher education. What that has to do with Community Service, I don't know?

Here is an image of the medal it is modeled from by Augustus Saint Gaudens.
The Women's Auxiliary of the Massachusetts Civil Service Reform
Association Presentation Medal, 1905-06

OF COURSE... this precious medal is NOT mine.

All-Members,-Post-Your-Most-Recent-US-Coin-Purchases!Saint Gaudens medal is much better in design in my opinion. He was the master.

Yes, I agree. The original is far better. Has a somewhat militaristic look to it, too.

Both of these seem to have scratches and damage. Tell us what appeals to you about them.

A point below my normal grading range but I just couldn't resist this very scarce crustaceous beauty.

Nice dollar, Mike. I like the die crack on the reverse.

txgolfer56, I like the reverse of your 1908-S IHC and want to use it on another thread where the OP thinks he has a 1907-S IHC. Reason is because the S on your coin is so far to the right of where I thought it should be, as is the case with the 1907.
