Amazing how even in VG, almost F condition, the dates on the pre-1925 SLQs are almost gone.

Picked these up from a coin shop in Brighton yesterday together with a VF-ish 1950-D dime, all for £48.

I bought this coin raw at a coin show because I liked the look of it. I consulted my coin references library when home and found out it was the following.

It is an 1877 S, WB-6 Type 1, Micro S, Weird F, Half Dollar.

According to Bill Bugert and his Register of Seated Liberty half dollars, San Francisco Branch Mint, This Die Marriage is Obv. 6 and Rev D. He lists it as an R7 on the rarity scale, which means only 4 - 12 of these exist.

PCGS has only one currently graded at XF-45, mine will be number two at VF-30, and the Mint State example used by Bill in his register book which hasn't been graded, makes three of the twelve.

Needless to say, I'm super happy I picked it up.
