I just searched my 50,000th nickel, and I found 3 proof nickels.

just saw that ancientcoinguy found 3 proof nickels in $2,200. I found 3 in $2,500. These are very similar numbers, so it should give an excellent baseline at least for nickels.

A month and a half ago, my wife and I went through the Wendy's drive through and I got a 83 proof nickel back in my change.

I asked a teller at a different branch of my bank for any 50 cent coins that she had today.
She had two. A 2002p (no big deal) and a 1992 proof. (Canadian)
The proof looked perfect. Frosted relief.

I agree with McShilling the nickle in the pic sure looks like a '58.

It's a 1938. The font used in '38 and '39 had a 3 that looked remarkably like a 5. I've found more than one 1938 in my pile of 1958 nickels.
