There is no doubt this is a genuine 1918/7-D
Buffalo nickel. The "D" Mint Mark is in the proper position, and the die crack on the Indian's cheek is visible (however not always required to authenticate a genuine piece).
They best identifier in lower grade examples is the position of the inside loops of the "8". On a genuine 1918/7-D
Buffalo nickel the upper loop will be to the left of the lower loop. On all regular 1918(P-D-S)
Buffalo nickels the inside loops of the "8" ware so they appear in a vertical line.
I grade it VG-8.
No Die Crack - early die stage.

With Die Crack - notice all the other die fatigue on this later die stage.
