Hello,

I purchased a 2002 proof set a while back with plans on reselling the set. Now, I am seeing the set go for pure silver content.

This being said, I know one of the quarters is more rare and sells for around $8 to $10. Now, to me it does not make sense to sell the entire set for just silver content. By doing this, a proof Dollar and Penny are going for free.

I think I shall break up the proof set and sell the coins separately while keeping one or so for myself.

What are your views on breaking up sets?

I slid apart the cover to the silver quarters in my 2002 proof set.

I have them in coin sleeves now and will likely have them up when I think
silver is where I would like it to be for my personal goal (around $35-$39).

I have broken up proof sets all the time. That can be an economical way to complete albums with proofs.

I can actually be a nice stress reliever.

Most know I have no problems breaking apart a proof set.

The sum of the separate parts will always sell for more than the intact set. If you want to maximize the sale, break it up.

Same with me. I purposely get extras for that reason.
