I'll take a better picture today, but the beard looks much better in hand then in this image. I, too thought the beard looked odd, but now that I have it, the beard looks more "normal".

I just finished taking pictures of this coin, but I'm no photographer. I think the coin is very nice in hand so I think the price tag was about right. I'm not so certain about the coin being tooled or repatinated though. Any additional thoughts? Regardless, it's mine and I like it!

JW, your pictures are a much better capture of the coin's details.
I'm a total noob in these matters, but I suspect the missing details like lips, legends, etc...is due to localized corrosion, now removed--is that tooling? In any case, I like this coin!

This picture makes me think 'excessive smoothing' is a better term than 'tooling'. That is not as serious a fault and certainly show no sign of anything deceptive.

Well, I also like when a coin arrives looking better than the initial pics. The bull, in particular, looks much better!
Threads like this are educational to me, and helps me better understand and know what to look for.
