I would hope that it is not counterfeit. I bought it off of a dealer who I've been seeing at the coin show for the past 4 months. He is a very nice guy and even told me to beware of counterfeits before buying coins off
ebay or other raw coins. I like the idea of the flaw in the original planchet.
My goal with collecting is to collect as many different types of
US coins as possible. I don't really care about years, key dates, or varieties as much. And I thought this one was perfect for my album right next to the Seated Liberty half. I have 5 coupons for free grading at ANACS but I'm not sure if I should send it in. I prefer raw coins over slabbed so I can display them all in the same binder. (Although I'm sure jbuck would suggest sending it in, then breaking out of the slab).
