Yes, we've all been bitten by the wudda, cudda, shudda bug from time to time. I wish that I had started my silver bullion collection YEARS ago. Be that as it may, though, it really IS better to start later than never. I'm not into the ebay thing either. My son is, though, so if I ever have anything I want to sell there, he takes care of it. I sold off 12 silver and brass casino gaming tokens a few months ago and that worked out pretty well. I got some very nice Walking Liberty halves with the $264 I got from the tokens.

Yes that's true. I am glad that of all the items I'd did get instead one the 2009 double relief eagle. At least its worth more than gold bullion today

One of the things that continues to impress me about PMs is that they are solid and real items of true value. In a world that seems to be devolving into mostly cheap plastic junk that is made specifically to wear out so it can be replaced on a fairly rapid schedule, I find this aspect of PMs VERY attractive. I can hold a silver bar or a tube of silver coins in my hand and feel its weight and solidity. I can appreciate its timeless beauty and its long history as REAL money. I have to chuckle a bit when I get a shipment of silver from one of my on-line suppliers or make a purchase at a local coin or pawn shop. Those silly people actually traded me something of REAL value for some crummy pieces of paper with some ink on it. LOL!

Just wondering Ed if you have kept any nickels? I know now not really much more than face but at least they can be had at face plus there could be appreciation if times get bad and if not can be spent. I have a few boxes as part of my regular savings just in case what happened to silver coins happens with nickels. Can't hurt in my view

Quote: mostly cheap plastic junk that is made specifically to wear out so it can be replaced on a fairly rapid schedule exactly! we salvaged equipment for our bio-anat research lab that was made in the 40s and they still work wonderfully. Whereas brand new, $80,000 2011 models with fancy electronic add-ons break down more often than I need to oil the old equipment... Sham that consumerism took a turn for the replaceable,

Quote: Just wondering Ed if you have kept any nickels? No, Angel, I haven't kept any nickels or pennies. I know quite a few people collect these and that's fine. There's LOTS of room in the coin collecting realm for all sorts of collections and some of them are quite nice. They just aren't my thing, though. I have been well and truly bitten by The Silver Bug, so all of my collection is either pure silver bars or coins or US 90% silver coins prior to 1965. I have a 1984 Ford F-250 pickup truck that I use to collect firewood, haul junk to the dump, and haul yard and garden or building supplies from time to time. It has the big 300 CID inline 6-cylinder engine, NP-435 4-speed trans, and manual 4WD. It's a beater for sure but reliable as all get out and virtually unstoppable... unlike a lot of the cars and trucks made today.

Thanks. I just wondered if any of the PM savers are saving the nickels as well. I guess I remember picking out all the silver coins as a small child and keeping them for the intrinsic value. Nickels struck that memory in me so I decided to keep all change plus get a few boxes of nickels which I have found some silver as well as Buffalos. I did it as a what if. Can't hurt. If no uptick in nickel and copper since they can be still spent with no loss

Quote: Yes, I have had that same experience with... that's how I measure as much of my purchases as possible, if they will last at least my lifetime. Getting hard to do that nowadays though. Sometime that's understandable given the complexity that is now built into the "new and improved" products of today, but simplicity and durability still often trumps these modern add ons. Do I really need my car to talk to me and my fridge to tell me what the weather's like outside? Part of the allure of coins is their simplicity and timelessness. That's also why I still can't really bring myself to like hologram and colorized finishes or sticking glass and crystals and other gimmicks to coins Wayyyyy off topic. To get back on, I've just purchased my first PM-related stock. fingers crossed it'll do well within the next half year.
