Okay. after looking through pages and pages of mexican coins. I have come to my own conclusion that this is some sort of reales coin that was maybe melted down or defaced somehow and re-stamped with a monogram? Looks vaguely like a B and X (or maybe a fancy I) and and an E. Plus it is pretty banged up...Just wanted to see if anyone has ever seen this sort of thing before. Thanks!

Not "re-stamped", but re-engraved. A coin that has had one side ground down smooth and a new design re-engraved on it is often known as a "love token".

There is a broad collector base for love tokens. Large silver coins are scarce. Yours is a little beat up but still desirable I think. Not "re-engraved" but just engraved though I bet Sap knows this and was making a play on words.
