yeah the color in the pics isn't quite right. never having taken pics of coins, I was a bit surprised at how difficult it would be. Those were taken with my phone. I will post better pics when I get home and have my camera. Thanks again!

if you look on YouTube there are a number of videos on making "silver pennies" look there and I think you will have your answer.

Everyone suggesting PMD heat treatment is discounting the fact that the poster stated the coin was pulled from a solid roll of 2011 Lincolns, there really isn't any room for manipulation in that scenario. Surfaces look smooth with a fairly uniform tone, if it has cartwheel luster then it is almost certainly an unplated planchet error. I see great potential here but I will be waiting for a photo showing luster and proper color

I agree with Bio. It's easy to become jaded because there are so many posts about "silver pennies" on the forum, however, we need to give some extra credence to this one because it came from a solid roll. I was hoping to see some cartwheel luster in the pictures! That's the only way to accurately determine if one of these is authentic.

sccoble - Hold the coin under strong light and tilt it back and forth. Tell us if you something that looks like the spokes of a wheel moving around from the center of the coin out. Or is it just flat, dull or mirror like?

Bad Thad - it is not dull and flat, but shiny and the light just moves really fluidly over it. Thanks! :)

Here are some new pics. I think the color is a little better and have included a normal 2011 penny next to the silver one to show the difference. Hope this helps!

Excellent, plenty of luster is showing Be careful not to get fingerprints on the coin, zinc is a very reactive coinage metal. Completely unplated planchets are a farily uncommon occurence, the error type is most frequently encountered as a partially plated coin. They are even rarer when found with no corrosion on the zinc, you had the advantage of pulling it out of a new roll with the coin never seeing circulation.

Forgive me, I'm new to this. Does that mean this coin is valuable? I put it in a plastic holder thing. Thank you for your feedback.

I see no obvious problems that would indicate PMD The photos aren't good enough to definitely confirm a non-plated planchet strike but it looks very good. This is a piece that needs to move to the next step and be seen in person by an EXPERIENCED error specialist.

I'm not the one who usually gives out the error coin advice so you may want to get other opinions (or maybe someone else here can chime in) but I would think one resource for you would be Coneca. At the bottom of their web site is a link to Coneca Leaders and I would think you may be able to get someone there interested in your coin. Here is the link:

http://conecaonline.org/leaders.html

Again, good luck and please let us all know how everything ends up!

P.S. - if anyone has some better advice please chime in because I'm shooting from the hip on this one.
P.S.S - here is an ebay sale of a coin that is similar to yours although I think your looks better.
