To make this short, if you were going to send coins to just one TPG, who would it be and why? Also, it seem that they have some sort of member ship that gets you X amount of gradings. What do you really get for the membership? Are you better off just paying for the gradings or are you ahead if you join? I have a few coin I would like graded and sure would appreciate your thoughts. This might have been best asked in the TPG section of this Forum, but for my Two Cents I would either go with NGC (They are approved by the ANA) or PCGS (Higher value in return) and I would never go with one of the other alphabet companies. (ICQ or Anacs would be a exception to that rule)

Hi Jim I will be moving this post to the TPG forum shortly after responding. NGC and PCGS do not allow submissions with out membership,, Anacs is the only TPG besides the underdogs which allows submissions from the general public. Rick

ANACS for me. Why? No body bags True, PCGS and NGC slabbed coins sell for more, but with ANACS you never waste a submission fee because of a lightly cleaned Bust Half coming back in a body bag. ANACS will just put it in the older holder, spell out the problem, and net grade it.

I think, for me, it's NGC. I was recently rather badly burned (for my fiscal status) by a PCGS Morgan which turned out to have been harshly cleaned and artificially retoned - it cost me $130, the 3d-highest price I've ever paid for a 1921 Morgan, and essentially it's worthless. Furthermore, a Barber quarter of mine which never reached $150 (much less my Reserve) in 3 auctions in an ANACS slab, sold for $220 in the same grade in an NGC slab. I have another coin on ebay right now, in an NGC slab, which looks like it's going to do me right proud, even with 4 days left in the auction.

I use NGC also, for my own submissions. However when I am buying, I both.. With the paid memberships, both companies give you vouchers for free submissions. NGC is $99 with 5 free submissions but PCGS is $199 for eight free submissions..Here's the links to compare the two: http://www.collectors-society.com/join/index.asphttp://www.pcgs.com/join/index.chtmlAlso, if you are an ANA member, you have direct submission priveleges to NGC without having and NGC membership. ~christina
