I picked up a Rushmore yesterday from APMEX fro $118.00 shipped. I thought that was a great price. |

I believe that those are the numbers for the UNC sold by the mint, not the Bullion versions sold by AP's
The Mint really has no way to keep track of "sales" of bullion coins, only how many are shipped to the AP's.

barry - those are the numbers as of Monday for the "P" coin.
denco7 - the sales to the AP are the sold number of bullion coins. There is no distinction that needs drawn between shipped and sold. The AP's can't return them.

So you are saying that they are all sold out and collectors have no chance of getting them, except at a premium off of $bay ? Of course my point was that I, along with many others, do not consider a bullion coin " sold out " just because they are all in the hands of the AP's. When the mint sells out of proof, UNC, coins, everyone down the line raises their prices, when the mint delivers all their bullion coins to their AP's the price generally stays the same. |

Nope, you can get them from the same place as before they were "sold out"...at the dealers (Provident, APMEX etc)..spot plus premium (talking about the bullion coins NOT the P's) All of the 2013 issues are available at the same price.."sold out" or not.... I think the distinction here is that the mint is no longer producing these and what they have produced has been sold. (that is sold out at the mint - regardless of who bought them and is still selling them)

That being said , I think that labeling these as " sold out " gives the wrong impression/message to the novice collector or uninitiated. And would cause them to overpay for fear that these were now unattainable.
Perhaps " no longer in production " would be a better way of referring to these bullion issues, than sold out.

Yes and by the P version being sold out puts more of a draw on the bullion for those that didn't buy the P version while available
