2012 America the Beautiful 5 oz. Silver Bullion Coins

The United States Mint has confirmed that production has been completed for the 2012-dated America the Beautiful 5 oz. Silver Bullion Coins.

Total production includes 20,000 coins each for the Hawaii Volcanoes and Denali National Park designs. There were 24,000 coins for the El Yunque National Forest Design, 24,400 for Chaco Culture, and 25,400 for Acadia.

These numbers are below the production levels for the first five designs released in 2010, which had set off a flurry of speculative activity. Four out of five of the numbers are also below the maximum mintage of 25,000 pieces established for the 2012-dated numismatic versions of the coins

That is good news, I think! Even though I'm not collecting bullion versions!

Nobody should be surprised that the '12 bullion mintage will be somewhat less than the uncirculated, provided they sell out sometime in 2013. As lovely as they are, there hasn't been an ideal storage solution for them that wasn't either bulky or expensive. Mintage might get even lower with the '13 coins as the lesser known parks and sites are coming in the next few years.

Silver below $30 an oz today. Mint raised the prices on these when silver went above $33 an oz. I have not been around here very long. Anyone remember at what point the mint lowered prices the last time silver was dropping? Still looking to add the last two P-pucks. Not paying the current $46 an oz though.

It was just around Christmas last year when lowered to 204.95. I will see what silver was at last year when I get the closing price later today since it shows price last year. I think it was in the high 20s for a bit prior to lowering. I am waiting it out since I need the last 2011 and have to order before year end since they will stop sales then. Holding out on AK for a bit though!

Forgot to write. They may just keep prices where they are through year end due to the 2011 end of sales. When lowering the price they always suspend for at least a week anyway so most likely any 2011 will have the current price anyway

Ag keeps dropping -- $29.65 currently. I need to get the final 2 P installments from 2012 but want to see if they'll go back down to 205! At any rate, won't have any money to buy until after Christmas so will just have to sit tight and see what happens!

I just got the El Yunque coin because I was kind of worried that the mint will pull it because it was the first 2012 issued but I'm waiting for the price to come down on the others and then purchase all at once.

It could be a bad plan, but I really don't want to pay the price per ounce they have posted now.

The mint really has us over a barrel.

If we stay below $30 maybe we will see the price lowered. It would help move some of their inventory. Has to be cheaper to sell it then melt it into 2013 pucks.

But I do think last silver had been below $30/oz for a bit before the 204.95 price change that happened at the end of Dec.
