On the bay APMEX is selling 5oz Vicksburg pucks for $115.50 with shipping. If this trends holds up they may be below $100 soon. Pretty amazing when you consider how much the original pucks went for when they came out in 2010. Much easier on the wallet now.

Just posted on the Mint News Blog website:

Due to the recent decrease in the price of silver, the United States Mint is considering lowering prices on several silver coin products. As a result, we have postponed the launch of the 2013 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin for Great Basin National Park that was scheduled to go on sale June 27. The new prices will go into effect after being published in the Federal Register and after a new on-sale date has been determined.

I can wait especially for a lower price. I think this coin and Mt. Rushmore are the nicest designs this year!

Looks like I'll be refusing the shipment with White Mountain and Perry's Victory P pucks which are supposed to get here tomorrow. As early as two weeks ago I had misgivings about the $179.95 pricing, thinking this is a heck of a huge premium to pay. Won't be surprised if the silver eagles also get price reductions, the uncirculated silver eagle was cheaper at Provident than at the Mint. At least the Great Basin bullion got released two days ago.

The question is: Wait for lower price to buy all the 2013 bullion coins and risk lower quality OR buying as they are coming out, paying higher price but ensure better quality?

Just me, but isn't this deju vu from last year concerning the 5oz ATBs? I'd buy the white mtn P again but wait on the perry until the price is settled as the mintage is low for the perry.

If you are going to hold the coins for the long term like 5-10 years plus, the price really will not matter because a lot of people are saying the prices of silver and gold will eventually rebound anyway.

I'm going after the limited edition P marked 5oz pucks, the bullion editions I leave to you experts to deal with.

Penny - I am leaning towards the P edition only from here on in. I've had pretty bad luck with the bullion version - which is kind of disappointing because I like the finish on many of them - but I am not willing to continue to spend $100+ for scrap silver - I can do that without a premium as it is.

I actually like the idea I am buying new releases as the price is dropping - instead of the past years - where the mint was making it hard to see buying these at overinflated prices. I am looking forward to the Great Basin as well as Rushmore this year!

The mint still has them listed for 179.95. Any idea on the date they will drop

angel - the way I understand it - it will take a couple of weeks. I think they have to submit the price online to a government site for publication before they announce a price change, and that takes a few days. I imagine they are looking for some stability in the price of silver before publishing a new price. The good thing is they decided to do this prior to issuing the coin, like they should have done with the proof set... I got burned on that after I had the set and then a week later they dropped the price.

So any speculation what the new price will be? I am leaning towards a $154.95 price...

Thanks. I didn't know if an actual date had been set as it was in the memo posted before they decreased to 179.

I wouldnt expect anything to change until next week assuming 20 was a magic number. 150 something sounds right for a decrease assuming they dont have a floor price theyll stay at regardless of spot

The usual reductions look to be $5 per oz of silver. Assuming $20 is the magic number, $154.95 sounds about right. Glad the Mint delayed the Great Basin coin, my wallet can use the rest.

barry - that is why I like that finish. That picture is the best I've seen of the coin so far. The tree is stellar.
