Although I generally run across the '59, this shows so much similarity. Edge has the same darkness. Any lighter areas on the coin I attribute to wear, as I dont believe these were baked through 'n thru. Maybe I'm wrong, at any rate, it only cost 5c. (box)

I'm no pro on these, but mine is slabbed as improper alloy mixture, which I would think would affect more than the surface.I was also told to look for luster on a BB and I don't see that here.

Sometimes, just for a bit of fun, I will place a freshly minted cupro nickel coin on the hotplate of an electric stove, and heat it until it turns black, then drop it into cold water. It only takes a couple of minutes.

Then I just put them back into circulation!
