The 1929 with the dirt on looks to be a high nine. And the other does too, best way is to draw a staight line. But on the first picture if you look there is a dot beside the 1 of "1929" do you know what that is? and nice nickel finds... love the sunset on that nickel

I'm kind of interested in starting roll hunting, but not sure were to get them. You just go at you local bank and ask for roll or boxes? How much is in a box?

$25 In a box of pennies.

I just go up to the business teller and ask for what i'd like that day.

I usually grab a box of Pennies and a few rolls of something else for a change of pace.

And don't be embarassed, Tell them what you are doing, after a few times in the tellers know what you are looking for and will gladly help.
1 of the bank tellers actually will nod her head if there are unmint rolls, and wave if they are mint rolls. saves standing in line LOL

I find it relaxing in the evenings.

Roll searching can be fun, especially for varieties. I bought a hoard of 9 boxes in the summer of 2010 from a collection, and paid $30 per box because there was not a single coin newer than 1958 in all 9 boxes. I spread out the hunting over a period of about 10 months. It was a good mental holiday from doing other coin related work, and discovered some varieties even Hans Zoell had misssed.

I enjoy reading these updates Crockett, happy hunting...

The Girls at the bank know me I've been doing roll hunting for 6 years they now call me when interesting stuff comes in before it goes to the mint to be destroyed. They thought I was nuts until I showed them some ebay receipts. Also it helps to buy them a coffee every now and then lol.

"Also it helps to buy them a coffee every now and then lol."

Never have truer words been spoken...I started doing this back in November too...Have yet to find anything older than '32 in Canadian, but have a 5 centesme Italian coin, 1907 IH, a handful of T&T cents, some british coins and a a few euros. Lots of other goodies too as far as Canadian goes as well.
I always ask for the rattiest, most beat up looking rolls they have. Yesterday, I got a Guarda box, and got 35 dimes mixed in and amongst the rolls. Was hoping for some silver, but alas, it wasn't to be.
I like CRH'ing because it's like Christmas every time you open a roll and see what's there.

HH everyone!

The asian coin is a 1981 Taiwan One Yuan, or one Taiwan dollar. It's still in circulation. Face value equals USD$0.0335.
