I have had this coin for over 40 years. It seems to be Spanish. It's gold/brass in color. I know nothing about coins. It is approx. The size of a half dollar but much thicker. . On the front it reads--A RAMON C. FONSECA. COMISARIO INSPECTOR DE LA PROVINCIA. In the center is a sunrise, horse, cow and a goat (it seems), an anchor, a hillside and something else--appears to be a wagon.
On the back it reads. LOS VECINOS DE ALMIRANTE BROWN AGRADECIDOS 1873-1887

Help me if you know anything. I've wandered about it for years. Finally got it to investigate.

I typed in the inscription into google translate and here is what it translates to:

NEIGHBORS OF ADMIRAL BROWN GRATEFUL 1873-1887
A RAMON C. FONSECA. COMMISSIONER INSPECTOR OF THE PROVINCE

This would most likely be a medal of some sort and not a coin. A coin from this era would need to have a denomination somewhere on it. Hopefully some of this info will help you find out what you have.

The "Admiral Brown" mentioned on it is a partido (an administrative division similar to the American "county") of Buenos Aires province, named after this guy, an Irish-born Argentine war hero. I would translate "Los Vecinos" as "the residents of", rather than "the neighbours of".

I found your medal listed in this archived book, scroll down to number 538. It doesn't add much information, except to describe it as "gilt copper, 28.8 grams" and that the central image in the top pic is the seal of the city of La Plata, capital city of the Province of Buenos Aires.
