I see these all day listed around 200 to up to 400 or way beyond, depending on how many grams of sterling silver the item contains, or if it is made of gold for example, they list way higher....

I saw where on one of the auction hunter shows, they found three in a locker, and two were like 400 to 500 in value made of sterling silver, and then there was this ultra rare 1805 to 1812 version, with a Napoleon art scene on it, that the English lady expert valued at 4 to 5 grand. The lion stamp facing the left represents Sterling silver made in the UK I think, and forgive me if I am wrong on that, as I am sure one of you would know better....

Anyhow, I did some ebay research, and they are very plentiful in many different price range, and made of many different metals....

Now here is my idea, I don't smoke but how about changing the purpose of the box to be a container for a half dozen or so silver one oz. bars or more perhaps depending on the size of the box. Many are old rare antiques, with cool artwork on the lids which I think is several angles of collection factor rolled into one. Smokers, silver, rare antiques, art design, etc.. Just cool old neat items, and like I said to add a a couple to a silver set, well that would be a pretty attractive auction in my eyes, seeing as how you would be using treasure to house your treasure, lol....

The more interest you generate for what you are selling, the more money it USUALLY commands.

It would be something different I figure and create interest Mmerlinn perhaps if you matched the right boxes with the right silver coins or bars. And anything different to make your item stand out is all good IMO, and you would be adding a pretty decent chunk to your silver amount on each case. As they seem to be around 5 oz. I would guess on average of 925. I have always wanted to get some sterling silver, but never could make myself pull the trigger on any of it just yet....

For example I saw a unique antique dragon box from China, and if you filled it with three or four different size lunar dragon coins, you would have a unique set. And I think buyers appreciate when one takes the time to put together things like that perhaps....

I like that "silver" match holder that Gene Hackman has on The Quick and the Dead. I would like to get ahold of one of those.

Interesting observation on that silver match stick holder, as I don't think you can find things like that anymore. An obsolete item one would think is no longer made, but you just never know in this world, so much out there. I will have to re-visit that film, and look for that item....
