Im not really big inot the classic coins as when I started out since LWC and LMC are way cheaper route. I got a 1957 Flying Eagle for 10.00 on ebay and when I looked at it, it looks like there is a S mint mark on it. Its in the same place that the IHC S mint marks are. What would cause this? since I'm pretty sure they didnt have S mint marks back in the day. (i could be wrong)

Maybe I'm just seeing things who knows.

Sorry the pictures are not very good I used my phone with bad lighting at the office.

Will try to get better ones tonight.

Not possible for a "S". San Francisco did not make small (or any) cents until 51 years later, 1908.

That is exactly what I was thinking, but I was not 100% sure. Wonder if something just hit it in the many years its been around.

What if it was not for a small cent?

Interesting find, but nonetheless, no "S".
