Effectively, one should be able to track each coin starting with the published currency determination (Go to ComLaw http://www.comlaw.gov.au/and in the search box type "currency determination" or just cut and paste from here, and hit go) through to the mintage figures for each year from those mints authorized to produce said legal tender coin. If they don't make a coin, they should still have to list it, just with a zero mintage. Example? check out Perth Mint determination 1 of 2007 and see: /quote Item 118 - 50 cent coinDenomination - 50 cents Standard composition - Base metal Maximum weight - 29.00g Maximum diameter - 36.05mm Maximum thickness - 3.65mm Shape - Circular Edge - Plain Obverse designA border with the inscriptions: (a) ‘ELIZABETH II'; and (b) ‘AUSTRALIA 2008'; and (c) ‘50 CENTS'; surrounding: (d) an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II; and (e) the initials ‘IRB'. Reverse designThe design consisting of a reproduction of the reverse of a 1797 1 penny copper coin produced in Great Britain. /end quote I have never been able to find a trace of this coin and I suggest that it was never manufactured... Does anyone here know of a round 50c dated 2008 with the reverse as a cartwheel penny?

Gee thanks people, there's some good points coming out..makes you think about a lot of stuff and how they think we're all sheep and can be fleeced easy.
Thanks a lot for the input people..much appreciate it..keep up the good work and don't feel bad about having a rant..you've all made extreamly good points and I think there should be someone or an aurthority from the government that should be able to answer all our questions (in layman term) and not rave about a heap of bull and lies like they tend to do.
Cheers

I understand the idea of comparing notes to see if others have similar complaints, but unless the RAM has reps reading these posts, I can't help but think complaining directly would be more effective.
Does OZ have a law similar to the US, where gubmint offices have to provide information on request? I see no advantage to hiding mintage figgers.

RAM = Royal Australian Mint
Man do I feel microscopical! This being an Australian thread and all. I am glad that I did not mention my second familiarization of RAM...on what the heck; Radiation Absorbing Material. You know...the stuff the B-2 and F-117A are made of to make them "stealthy".
Sorry for the thread-jack...back to your regularly scheduled program, joined in progress.

If you have a good law there we ignore it, if you have a law we follow it and this has been going on for years..go figure This is for us the collectors to have our say even if it does falls on deaf ears like most thing here. If you'd noticed I'd put down that there should be some sort of authority we can go to..it doesn't matter what it is out here there's no one that's accountable for anything..very sad but true And we all agree that there's no point in hiding figure and what do they have to gain by doing it besides control..unless it's the new polly pay rise..now that's hush hush as to what it's going to cost. Mate you've just got no idea what it's like out here and be thankful for it, LOL..there's just so much I don't get. For an eg..your head man gets $100,000 less a year than ours. So can someone please explain how a country with probably the biggest economy in the world of trillions of dollars and a US population of around 450 million should get less money than someone that's allegedly running a lot smaller economy and far less population..please help as this just doesn't make any sence at all And thanks very much for having your say biggfredd as it's good to see what others around the world think as well, not just here at home Keep up the good work team

Our prez makes it up in bribes, book contracts, and payments for appearances after he's out of office. Otherwise, who would spend $250 million to get a job paying a maximum of $1.6 million?
It's been awhile since a non-millionaire became president. Even our early presidents would have been up to billionaires in today's money.
