Hi Jody and welcome to the forum! Lotsa friendly folk here with lotsa expertise and always happy to share.

If you're responding to a topic, reply within the same topic like I'm doing here. If you have a question related to a particular topic, then respond within the thread, but if your question is unrelated to the topic, then start a new topic in the appropriate forum subject area. If it's really out of place, one of the moderators will move it to a better location (you'll be notified by email that a topic has been moved. Also, if you're subscribed to the topic, the subscription emails will keep you attached to the topic.). Sometimes we drift off a subject (I'm as guilty of this as anyone else), but that's generally OK.

1945: it was a VERY good year! (Guess why?!) (Hint: I'll be 62 this year. )

AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Spamblockers! Whoever invented them should have his... never mind... this is a family forum. And the ISPs who employ them should have the same treatment. Contrary to the belief of the spamblockers and many ISPs, most people really do know how to think for themselves.

I put the pics directly into your intial post of this thread !!

I tried cropping them down to get a better look at the error,, I'm really thinking it is a planchet flaw rather than a die transfer,, but the files were to small to get good resolution by the time I got them cut down.

If I could start with a thousand kb or so I could end up with crops this size and resolution.

Jody, pay particular attention to Rick's uncirculated VF-30 1888-O Morgan dollar (or, if one prefers, well-circulated Mint State) . We've spilled a lot of blood over that one and had a lot of fun with it at the same time since it's probably the most extreme example of New Orleans Mint's weak strikes and poor quality control. It's also been the subject of, or included in more topics than probably any other coin in CCF.

To me, your 1945 Jefferson looks like it has the planchet's metal alloy incompletely mixed. I don't know if this is even possible, but it certain is interesting and well worth keeping.
