Hope all had a great Christmas!
I read a thread not too long ago about a cleaning solution made up of Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Sodium Tartrate.
I wrote down the measurements but not the link to the science supply store that the poster mentioned. If you read this post could you supply that link? I did find some at BHphoto, but it is a speciality item that takes between 2-4 weeks to get. Any help would be appreciated. I have a batch of uncleans coming in about a week and would like to try this solution on them. Again thanks.

Aboarman, a member of this group has developed a cleaning solution for ancients that works very well. I tried a sample that he sent to me and was very happy with the results. Hopefully it will be on the market soon, I know I will be buying some. You may want to contact him to see if he still has any samples left. I haven't used the Rochelle salt solution so I can't comment on it's results.

The best thing to do is pay a little more for your coins and buy them in better condition. I just bought a few uncleaned off ebay to see what people are getting and they where in bad condition. I think there are some good dealers on ebay but the coins they sell are not sold as uncleaned coins. You will get more satisfaction buying better coins. Look at the posted constantines I just purchased they averaged around $6. I have bought some uncleaned lots but have never been satisfied with the lots because most of them where cull coins.

jessvc1, that was a great little video. I did get the formula, but was having a bit of time finding the ingredients. After I posted I found some Rochelle salt on the web. As soon as I make the purchase, I will pass the seller along. It hasn't been confirmed and I don't want to muddy it up until I do. BHphoto had it as I said but I didn't want to wait that long to get it. I have been told repeatly on this forum that I should not spend my hard earned on uncleans, but I have already purchased some and my brother bought me some for Christmas so I will have some eventually to try to clean. I wanted a good solution to use and I believe this might be the cat's pajamas to do the unclean thing. Thank you for your help on the solution and also the advise. I probably will get tired of finding exactly what you describe, but unfortunately I will have to come to that conclusion myself :), I'm a slow learner!
tOrress, when I get the coins and the salts I most certainly will take before and after pics. It may be a week or two though.
echizento, I remember a thread to that effect. I would like to see how that matches up with this solution...all good stuff! Thanks guys.

Just a quick update. I purchased a pound of the Rochelle Salt for $13.99, $8.20 shipping off of ebay. (imagine that). There was a seller, quartzpegmatite, that had a pound for sale, auction style. I emailed him and asked him if he would sell a pound using Buy it Now. He did. It's the cheapest I've found it and didn't have to wait 2 to 4 weeks to get it. So now I just have to get the Sodium Hydroxide. Its cheap, but cost a bunch to send by Fedex because of its causticity. Its just pure lye. Stuff they make soap with. Anyway, I'll let the forum know how it works when all the parts come together.
