the smaller one is a provincial bronze from Caracalla(Marcus Aurelius Antoninus) made at Stobi, the capital of the roman province Macedonia Salutaris(A.D. 161-180) and the bigger one is a AE sestertius of HADRIAN(Publius Aelius Traianus Hadrianus)(A.D. 122-125),from Rome

Don't take my word as gospel as I haven't been collecting ancient coins for more than a couple months. I figured this would be a good exercise for me, to try and figure out what's a good price.

Knowing the size in millimeters and knowing the weight in grams would be helpful.

Hadrian coins are said to be common as well as finding them in decent condition, as surely yours is. I done a lot of searching and figured a price range of under $100. A more realistic affordable price might be around $50, as I found a bunch in a similar grade. I figure a average would be good for you, so it's flexible enough for you to narrow down a price that you're comfortable with.

Looking up this coin in Aorta seems to confirm for a price average.

First of all, you can look on ebay, a lot of those are rather high and some are right on.

You can check vcoins.com , acsearch.info

Here are two examples. One similar and one the same emperor but different ID.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROMAN-BRONZ...em1e698aaec1

Here is a general search for under 50, for USD, Euro, etc.

I can't give you the link to the Aorta book with the price average. What it says, around $50 for good deals, $100 average high on ebay. This is based on a 2010 price average.

Based on the condition of the coins $50 would be a good price for the Hadrian and from $15-20 for the provincial.

It's a bit confusing to me. There are a few Hadrians like yours here, http://www.acsearch.info/search.htm...&c=&a=&l=#18

The one pictured above from acsearch does not have the SC and VIRT AVG in the fields, others do and
the prices are all over the place. I'm not sure why ....condition, mints?
Someone here will know.

A lot depends on whether you are buying from a full service dealer or selling to a low end dealer who will have to hold the coin for a long time before finding a market for it. Stobi bronzes are not popular and this is not all that nice so you would be lucky to get the number echizento quoted. I see the Hadrian as a bit nicer and would buy it for $50 but would not be surprised if someone would go $76 or so. Condition is a lot but not everything. Who is selling it is important, too. In the stock of a respected dealer who guarantees coins for life, the Hadrian may be $100 but in the hands of someone unknown and selling as-is, $50 is not all that low. Prices on acsearch tend to be high end because the listings are mostly top end dealers. Listings on VCoins are often high because several of their dealers do more dreaming of selling than actual selling. Many coins there at $100 wouldn't interest me at $10 while others sell quickly at the asking price. It is a question of whether a dealer is trying to make a 50% profit or a 500% killing.
